No. 8 Broncos Draw With No. 18 Cal, 0-0

The No. 8 Santa Clara women's soccer team was forced to settle for a nil-nil draw with No. 18 California this afternoon, playing in its first road game of the season.

The Broncos were unable to find the net on their five shots in the game.  Freshman Sarah Jackson continued to show her offensive flair, getting two of three of her shots on net and forcing Cal's rookie goalkeeper Emily Kruger to make two of her three saves.  Sophomore Lauren Matheson also recorded a shot on goal.

At the other end of the field, junior goalkeeper Bianca Henninger was solid, making eight total saves in the game to record her second clean sheet of the season.

The game was the first of the year for returner Jenny LaPonte, who saw 54 minutes of action on the field coming on as a substitute.

Santa Clara moves to 2-0-1 on the season with the tie and will not have a second game this weekend.  The Broncos' next game will be at the Notre Dame tournament in South Bend, Ind. on Friday, Sept. 3.  SCU will open the tournament against the Fighting Irish at 7:30 pm ET.
