Volleyball’s Odom Named to AVCA All-Region Team

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Santa Clara volleyball's Taylor Odom has earned another major accolade for her stellar 2019 campaign. The middle blocker was named to the AVCA Pacific North All-Region Team, announced by the association on Tuesday.

Odom finished the 2019 season with an NCAA-best and SCU single-season record 196 total blocks, also good for fourth all-time in the West Coast Conference. Her 1.63 blocks/set are tops in the WCC and third in the country in addition to ranking first all-time for the Broncos in the 25-point format and second all-time in a single season.

The Bellevue, Washington native led the Broncos with a .331 hitting percentage and racked up 249 kills while hitting .400 or better 13 times. She helped the Bronco defense lead the WCC with 326.5 total blocks (10th NCAA) and 2.63 blocks/set (22nd NCAA), while holding opponents to a .168 hitting percentage (2nd WCC, 32nd NCAA).

The redshirt senior took home First Team All-West Coast Conference honors last week. She is Santa Clara's first all-region award winner since a trio of Broncos were recognized in 2015: Nikki Hess (all-region team), Danielle Rottman (all-region team) and Kirsten Mead (honorable mention). Hess was later named the ninth All-American in program history.

AVCA All-American teams will be announced on Wednesday, Dec. 18.
