West Coast Conference Play Begins For Women's Basketball Saturday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – West Coast Conference action opens for Santa Clara women's basketball Saturday at 2 p.m. in Leavey Center against Pacific.

The Broncos closed their nonconference season with a commanding 90-66 win over Fresno State last time out.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 29-23 all-time against Pacific with the first meeting coming in 1974-75. Last season each team won on the other's home floor with the Tigers beating the Broncos in the WCC Tournament.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (6-5, 0-0 WCC) is averaging 72.8 points per game while allowing 64.7. The Broncos shoot 44.9-percent from the field and 34.9-percent from beyond the arc. On defense, they allow marks of 37.0 and 25.0.

Tia Hay's 12.0 ppg lead the team as do her 4.0 assists per game. Merle Wiehl adds 11.9 ppg and 4.5 rebounds per game while leading the team with 21 3-pointers made. Ashlyn Herlihy and Lauren Yearwood are tied for the team lead with 6.9 rebounds per game and 11.5 ppg and 9.6 ppg respectively.

THE TIGERS
Pacific (7-4, 0-0 WCC) scores 69.6 ppg on 41.8-percent shooting from the field and 32.4-percent from beyond the arc. The Tigers allow opponents to score 61.5 ppg and shoot 38.2-percent from the floor and 30.1-percent from downtown.

Brooklyn McDavid leads the team with 16.4 ppg and is shooting 56.3-percent from the field. Valerie Higgins adds 14.9 ppg and leads the team with 8.0 rpg, 3.3 apg, and 2.8 spg. No other Tiger scores in double figures but Sofie Tryggedsson averages 8.4 ppg while hitting a team best 25 3-pointers.

Group discounts are also available through our ticket office sales and service consultants. Doors to Leavey Center, as well as its ticket office, are open one hour prior to the start of the game.

PARKING
For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot (see below for access), located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to tipoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located adjacent to Stevens Stadium on Palm Drive. During the weekend, campus parking facilities are free (except for permit required locations). Click here for a campus map and parking restrictions.

The construction of the Stephen C. and Patricia A. Schott Athletic Excellence Center has necessitated the closure of the main entrance (off Accolti Way) to the Leavey Center parking lot. Access is now ONLY directly from El Camino Real (Route 82). If you are traveling east on El Camino Real, the Leavey lot entrance will be approximately 150 yards on the right (enter through the black iron gate) after you pass the main campus entrance. If you are traveling west on El Camino, make a u-turn at the main campus entrance at Palm Drive/Railroad Ave and follow the same directions.
