Women’s Tennis - Giannina Ong Nominated For 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year Award
INDIANAPOLIS – Santa Clara women's tennis player Giannina Ong has been nominated for the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year award.

The NCAA Woman of the Year award honors graduating female student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership.

Ong, who graduated in June with a 3.917 GPA while triple majoring in English, Classical Studies, & Women's and Gender Studies, was named a West Coast Conference All-Academic honoree this past season.

The Cupertino, California, native is one of 581 nominees out of more than 200,000 women who are playing college sports.  Rooted in Title IX and directed by the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics, the NCAA Woman of the Year program celebrates the accomplishments of female college athletes across all three NCAA divisions.

The next step of the process includes conference offices selecting up to two conference nominees to move forward if at least one of the nominees is a woman of color or international student-athlete. Each conference nominee will be notified by the NCAA, and all conference-round nominees will be announced on ncaa.org in early August.
