Volleyball Signs Nora Miller to National Letter of Intent

April 23, 2003

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's volleyball team took another step towards national prominence as head coach Jon Wallace announced the signing of Santa Barbara High School standout Nora Miller to a National Letter of Intent Wednesday afternoon.

" We are very excited that Nora will be on this campus in the fall," said Wallace. "She is an excellent blocker and will make an immediate impact at the net. At 6-foot-3 she brings size and depth to an already potent middle blocking group."

Miller is the first signee for Wallace since he received his contract extension in late January that will keep him on the Mission Campus through the 2007 season. Wallace guided the Broncos to a 24-7 record in 2002, which was good enough for the team's fifth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance. They also climbed as high as No. 11 in the AVCA Coaches' Poll on November 4, establishing a new program best.

During her senior season at Santa Barbara High School Miller earned first team All-Santa Barbara County and All-Channel League honors to go along with her second team Division II Southern Section CIF selection. She was the team captain and was voted the team MVP by her teammates after posting 113 blocks and 326 kills during the season. The 113 blocks set a new school record for both male and female volleyball at SBHS.

As the only sophomore on the team she helped SBHS to the 2000 Division II Southern Section Championship and was named a honorable mention selection to the All-Channel league team. As a junior she earned second team All-Channel league honors.
