Tom Myers begins his third season as Santa Clara's pitching coach in 2003 after spending four years as the lead assistant and pitching coach for the UC Santa Barbara baseball program. Myers is a former Gaucho pitcher with six years of professional baseball experience as both a player and coach.

In his first year as the Bronco's pitching coach Myers inherited a staff that posted a 5.63 team ERA the year prior to his arrival. He guided the 2002 staff to a 5.51 team ERA in his first year before lowering that a remarkable 1.05 points for a team ERA of 4.46 in 2003. Under his tutelage Joe Diefenderfer posted an 8-3 record with a 3.40 ERA which was good enough to garner him an unanimous first team All-WCC selection and All-American honors from Baseball America.

Additionally, Myers directed Patrick Overholt to Freshman All-American honors in 2003 after the right-handed closer posted a 4-4 record with a 3.00 ERA and 10 saves in his first year at SCU.

Myers also guided the 2001 Gaucho pitching staff to one of the best seasons in the history of the program. The staff maintained a 3.96 ERA during the regular season en route to a NCAA Regionals appearance and 40-17 overall record. For the first time in UCSB history the staff produced two ten game winners in James Garcia and Rylie Ogle. Not since Myers had done so in 1991 had a Gaucho pitcher recorded 10 wins. Myers also helped to produce three All-Americans in James Garcia, Chris Quiroz and Matt Vasquez during his tenure at UCSB.

In addition to his pitching coach duties, Myers served as the strength and conditioning coach for the Gauchos. Myers will serve in the same capacity for the Broncos.

Myers, a member of the 1991 UCSB baseball team, was an All-Big West selection his only year as a Gaucho, winning ten games and saving three in 24 appearances. Myers joined UC Santa Barbara for his senior season after two years at San Jose City College and one at Arizona. He saw time on the mound and in the outfield for head coach Barry Woodhead helping San Jose City College to a Golden Gate Conference Championship and State Finals berth. As a Wildcat in 1990, he compiled a 1-1 record and notched one save for head coach Jerry Kindall. Myers spent his prep career under the tutelage of Bill Hutton at Archbishop Mitty High School.

Myers was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 29th round following his senior year at UCSB. As a professional, Myers pitched under the tutelage of Hall of Famer Bob Gibson, former major league pitching coach Tom House, and Gil Patterson in the minor leagues with the Oakland Athletics, Baltimore Orioles, and St. Louis Cardinals organizations.

In the summer of 1998, Myers was an envoy coach for Major League Baseball's International program in Wavre, Belgium. He began his coaching career in 1997 as an assistant coach at Porterville College.

A graduate of Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, Myers earned his Bachelor's degree in Communication from UC Santa Barbara and his Master's degree in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific. Myers received his certification as a Fitness Instructor from Dr. Tom House at the Functional Fitness Institute in October 2001.

The 33 year-old was married on August 15, 2002 to the former Janet Andrews of Durham, England. The couple have a seven-month old daughter named Lauren and reside in Santa Clara.
