In a high-scoring West Coast Conference bout in Los Angeles, the Broncos lost 84-80 at LMU on Thursday night.  The Broncos turned the ball over a season-high 20 times, but had four players in double figures including a career-high 17 for Brandon Clark and Raymond Cowels III's first-career double-double.  

The Broncos made 13 threes for the 10^th time in school history with 14 being scored four times and the school record 15 once.

Santa Clara is 12-5 and 1-2 in the West Coast Conference. LMU is 8-8 and 1-2 in WCC play.  LMU lost its first two games in league play on the road to Saint Mary's and BYU.  Santa Clara returns home to host BYU at 1:30 pm on Saturday on the WCC Game of the Week on Time Warner Cable.

Cowels III scored his first career double-double with 15 points and a career-high 11 rebounds.  With a career-high 17, B. Clark was 4 of 5 from beyond the arc and 5 of 6 from the free throw line.  He added six rebounds.  Evan Roquemore scored 21 with six assists and five turnovers.  Kevin Foster scored 11, but was 3 of 15 from the three-point line.  He added seven assists and four steals.  Yannick Atanga pulled in nine rebounds.

In the all-time records watch, Foster's three threes left him tied for the West Coast Conference threes made all-time record. He and Jeff Fryer (LMU, 1987-90) are tied with 363 each.  Foster moved to No. 5 on the all-time points scored list in the WCC as well.  Foster passed No. 6 Bo Kimble of LMU (1987-90, 2,010 points) and No. 5 Jim McGhee of Gonzaga (1986-90, 2,015 points). 

Anthony Ireland led LMU with 29 points, Ashley Hamilton added 17 and Ayodeji Egbeyemi had 13.  Ireland dished out eight assists and Godwin Okonji grabbed nine rebounds.

Santa Clara shot 40.0 percent from the field (26 of 65), including 43.3 percent from beyond the arc (13 of 30).  The Broncos were 15 of 20 from the free throw line (75.0 percent).  They collected 18 assists, 43 rebounds, six steals, seven blocks and 20 turnovers.

LMU shot 45.8 percent from the field (27 of 59), including 56.3 percent from beyond the arc (9 of 16).  The Lions were 21 of 25 from the free throw line (84.0 percent).  They collected 15 assists, 33 rebounds, 10 steals, seven blocks and 12 turnovers.

Trasolini dunked the ball at 19:45 to start the game.  Cowels III scored on a put-back at 18:37.  The Lions scored a couple times when Garrett scored inside and was fouled. He missed the free throws, but the Broncos grabbed the rebound and Roquemore hit one from downtown to put SCU up 9-4 at 17:54.

Cowels III hit the Broncos third straight basket to take a 12-4 at 16:1, but Ireland answered at 15:42 five feet out.  Roquemore scored the and one to make it 16-5 at 14:49.

B. Clark nailed a three at 14:18 and then a pair of free throws at 14:02 to put SCU up 20-6. The Lions then went on a 7-0 run.  Egbeyemi scored an off-balance three for the Lions first basket in three minutes at 12:50.  Hamilton scored back-to-back baskets for LMU at 11:18 and 10:28.

The Broncos scored back-to-back triples with B. Clark hitting at 9:52 and Roquemore at 9:25.   After a Lions three, B. Clark hit his third triple of the game at 8:50.  Hamilton scored a free throw and then a basket, 29-20 Broncos at 8:10.

Foster's first three of the game came at 6:50, 32-19. After an Ireland bucket, Cowels III scored his second three at 6:10. The Lions went on an 8-0 run over the next 1:20 to pull within six, 35-29 Broncos at 4:51.

Foster nailed a three from the top of the key at 4:24 to pass No. 6 Bo Kimble of LMU (1987-90, 2,010 points) on the WCC career points scored list. 

Osborne scored at 3:32.  Foster scored a runner at 2:20.  Cowels III scored a pair of free throws at 1:55.

In the first half Santa Clara was led by three scorers in double figures: Roquemore and B. Clark had 11 each and Cowels III had 10.  Cowels III led all players with seven rebounds.  Ireland led LMU with eight points and Okonji scored five rebounds.

In the first half Santa Clara shot 46.9 percent from the field (15 of 32), including 56.3 percent from beyond the arc (9 of 16).  The Broncos were 5 of 6 from the free throw line (83.3 percent).  They collected 12 assists, 22 rebounds, four steals, four blocks and 13 turnovers.

LMU shot 45.5 percent from the field (15 of 33), including 37.5 percent from beyond the arc (3 of 8).  The Lions were 2 of 2 from the free throw line (100.0 percent).  They collected seven assists, 14 rebounds, six steals, three blocks and eight turnovers.

The second half started the same way as the first half with a Trasolini dunk at 19:44.

Hamilton scored a pair of free throws at 18:44.  Cowels III and Garrett scored back-to-back baskets inside to put SCU up 50-41 at 17:15.

LMU went on another run, this one 9-0.  Ireland crushed a three and a couple of free throws.  English scored a three at 15:48 to make it 50-49 Broncos.

Atanga's put-back at 14:51 stopped the Lions run.  A couple of free throws by English were posted at 14:38.  Ireland tied it up 53-53 at 12:49.  Egbeyemi missed the first free throw of the night (were 8 of 8), but he made the second to give LMU the lead for the first time at 54-53 at 11:10.

Roquemore's three at 10:25 gave SCU the lead back, 56-54.  B. Clark was fouled shooting inside on a miss by Roquemore and he scored both, 58-54 Broncos at 10:03.   Hamilton scored inside at 9:37 and Trasolini answered with the second free throw at 10:03, 59-56 Broncos.

Hamilton's three tied it up 59-59 at 8:55.  Egbeyemi scored a pair from the charity stripe to give the Lions their second lead of the game in the last three minutes, 61-59 at 8:30.

Trasolini scored from two feet out at 7:55 to tie it up, 61-61.  Trasolini missed the front end of a 1-1 and LMU grabbed the rebound at 7:14.  Egbeyemi's three from the top of the key was followed by a one-handed jam by Hamilton to put SCU up 66-61 at 6:20. Roquemore answered with a three at 6:20 and hit a pair of free throws at 5:50 to tie it up 66-66.

Egbeyemi scored another pair of free throws at 4:54.  B. Clark scored the second of two free throws, 68-67 LMU at 4:49 and Hamilton scored inside to make the Lion lead three, 70-67 at 4:21.

Atanga was fouled at 3:40.  After the last media timeout, he sank both, 70-60 LMU.

Foster's three at 3:15 brought the Broncos within one.  It also tied him with LMU's Jeff Fryer for 363 threes all-time.  Ireland scored back-to-back threes for the Lions to make it 76-72 at 2:31.  Ireland was fouled at 1:45 by Roquemore and he sank both, 78-72 Lions.

Roquemore laid it in at 1:30 to cut the lead to four, 78-74.  English was fouled at 1:05 and he bricked both.  Ireland was fouled with 45 ticks left and he sank both, 80-74 LMU.

Cowels III scored an and one with 34.8 seconds left, 80-77 LMU.  LMU scored four free throws in the final 30 seconds and  B. Clark sank a three at the buzzer to make the final 84-80.
