SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Nate Kratch (NK), a freshman from Watertown, Minn., redshirted his first season on the men's basketball team. Kratch has high hopes for next season after watching this past season from the bench. He was able to learn a lot in his first season as a Bronco, even though he was not suiting up for games. SantaClaraBroncos.com (SCB) was able to sit down with Kratch to talk about his experience on the team thus far and look ahead to next season.
SCB: How was it learning under seniors such as Marc Trasolini this past season? NK: Marc Trasolini has a game that I hope to have, through picking and popping and also setting screens. Marc also works hard on his mid-low post game. I feel that game is really similar to Marc's. I would say that I have more an outside game than Marc, but he has a stronger low-post game than I do.
NK: After winning the deciding game of the CBI, the locker room at George Mason had to be the craziest moment.
NK: Marc Trasolini and Raymond Cowels III have both given me valuable tips. In the low post, Marc has a nice hesitation that he uses and he has helped incorporate that into my own game. Ray has helped me with my post-game and how to read defenses. He has also helped me with a dribble and spin move down low.
NK: I plan on working on dribbling and driving to the basket.
NK: I am aiming to be the WCC Freshman of the Year personally, but our team goals are most important. We want to win.
NK: I am just excited to be playing in games again since it has been over a year since I have actually played in a game. I am also looking forward to playing with all my new teammates!
NK: It was much easier to watch when we were sharing the ball and really playing as a team.
