SACRAMENTO, Calif. – In a match played in 95-degree heat, the visiting Santa Clara University and Sacramento State University combined for eight yellow cards and 29 fouls.

Santa Clara's Keigo Kameya scored his first collegiate goal in the first half before Rory O'Day answered with an equalizer for Sacramento State just after intermission. Despite two overtimes and 20 minutes of extra time, the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

Kameya, a true freshman from nearby Saratoga, set the tone for Santa Clara (3-4-1) with an
unassisted goal in the early going. The Broncos finish the weekend unbeaten. SCU knocked off city rival San Jose State University 2-1 Friday night at Buck Shaw Stadium prior to making the trip to Sacramento Sunday.

Sacramento State (5-2-1) is in the midst of its best stretch of soccer in school history. The Hornets are coming off their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance and upset No. 10 UC Irvine last week to begin its 2010 season by winning five of its first seven.

Santa Clara will now prepare for West Coast Conference play. The Broncos will travel to the Pacific Northwest for matches against Gonzaga University Friday, October 1 and league favorite the University of Portland Sunday, October 3.
