SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Another unbelievable finish at Buck Shaw Stadium forced overtime and left the Santa Clara men's soccer team with a tie.

With LMU trailing in the final moments, the Lion's 6-foot 6-inch reserve goalie, Max Young, lumbered down the field to come up and help on a desperation corner kick. Young ended up in just the right place, heading in a ricocheted loose ball to even the game at one with 1:10 on the clock.

Santa Clara (5-4-4; 2-0-3 WCC) settled for a 1-1 tie after two overtimes.  With three minutes to go, Santa had outshot LMU 10-2, then had the added edge of playing a man up when James Rochlitz was whistled for his second yellow card.  The visiting No. 24 Lions (9-3-2; 5-0-1 WCC) remain undefeated in league play.

Wesley Culver put Santa Clara in front midway through the first half, burying a free kick chance just outside the penalty box, driving the shot past a reaching Jack McCormack and into the far left corner of the net.

Culver's goal, his second of the year, gave the Broncos a 1-0 advantage, a lead SCU would take into the locker room at intermission.

McCormack was replaced in goal in the early stages of the second half, a move that would eventually pay unforeseen dividends for LMU head coach Paul Krumpe.
