SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's tennis defeated Yale 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon under sunny skies at the Degheri Tennis Center in the final tune up before Friday's West Coast Conference opener.
Mann Shah clinched the match for the Broncos when he took down Shervin Dehmoubed 6-2, 6-3 on court three to halt the team losing streak at four.
Santa Clara (5-6) took the doubles point when James Bell and Nick Cmager won the first doubles match 6-3 over Michael Sun and Walker Oberg at No. 3, followed by Mann Shah and Arthur Neuhaus' victory over Renaud Lefevre and Cody Lin 6-4 at No. 1.
SCU extended the lead to 2-0 on Santiago Hinojosa's straight set singles win over Aidan Reilly 6-3, 6-2 on court five.
Yale (8-7) halted the Broncos momentum when Luke Neal's upped Nick Cmager on court six.
But the Broncos took the next two matches, first by Arthur Neuhaus over Theo Dean 6-3, 6-4 on court two followed by Shah's clincher.
