No. 17 Santa Clara Heads Up North for Davis Shootout

Oct. 28, 2005

Santa Clara, Calif. - In just a few weeks, the Western Water Polo Association Championships will take place down in Los Angeles, Calif. and the No. 17 Santa Clara men's water polo team is gearing up for a deep run. Currently, the Broncos sport an overall record of 13-10 and are among the top teams in the conference. At the Davis Shootout this weekend, SCU will have a chance to demonstrate that they deserve a Top 4 seed in the conference championships, as they will face two league opponents this weekend in BYU-Hawai'i and No. 19 Air Force, in addition to taking on Cal Baptist.

"All three games are pretty big matches and they are all going to be tough battles," said Santa Clara head coach Keith Wilbur. Air Force and BYU-Hawai'i are conference matches that could affect our standings heading into the league tournament. We know it is going to be a big weekend and we're focused on doing well at the Davis Shootout.

First up for Santa Clara will be BYU-Hawai'i, as the two teams will face off on Friday, October 28 at 6 p.m. The following day, SCU will take on Air Force at 11:20 a.m. and then follows that up with a match against Cal Baptist at 4:20 p.m. All matches will be contested at the UC Davis Schaal Aquatics Center.
