No. 17 Santa Clara Drops 9-5 Decision to BYU-Hawai'i

Oct. 28, 2005

Davis, Calif. - In the first match of the Davis Shootout, the 17th-ranked Santa Clara men's water polo dropped a 9-5 decision to conference rival BYU-Hawai'i. Charlie Moore led the Broncos (13-11) with three goals in the match, with Jack Wall and Patrick Noack chipping in with a goal. Grant Allison and Chris Parolin drew two kickouts and Kevin Starry and Wall added four steals each. In the cage, Mike Petersen stabilized the defense with 10 blocks.

"We came out flat in the first half and we never really recovered," said head coach Keith Wilbur. "Give BYU credit - they played well the whole match. It was a tough start to the weekend and we just have to bounce back tomorrow."

Santa Clara returns to action tomorrow morning when the Davis Shootout continues. At 11:20 a.m., SCU will face Air Force, and then follows that up with a match against Cal Baptist at 4:20 p.m. All matches will be contested at the UC Davis Schaal Aquatics Center.
