SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball had two players honored on the 2014-15 West Coast Conference Women's Basketball All-Academic Team on Friday. Both Marie Bertholdt and Brooke Gallaway were named honorable mention.
"I'm proud of both our players for being recognized by the conference for their work in the classroom," said Santa Clara head coach JR Payne. "Our team knows how important the academics are and they have done a great job with their classes. "
Bertholdt is in the Leavey School of business and carries a 3.30 GPA. She leads the team with 7.7 rpg and is second on the team in scoring with 9.8 ppg. Bertholdt has collected six double-doubles this year and started all 25 games for the Broncos.
Gallaway is majoring in communications with a 3.27 GPA. She has appeared in all 25 games this season and has made 17 starts. She is averaging 3.4 ppg to go with 2.2 rpg and 1.0 apg.
