PricewaterhouseCoopers hosted four members of the 2012-13 class of The First Tee Scholars to attend the Executive Forum at THE PLAYERS Championship. The Scholars are in their freshmen year of college at various schools around the country and were selected by The First Tee because of their outstanding academic performance, community involvement, and leadership qualities. The purpose of the Scholars' attendance at THE PLAYERS was to heighten their awareness of corporate America and to meet senior executives who were in attendance. The Santa Clara Broncos were proud to send rookie Ashley Noda.
Entering the season with four freshmen and only one senior on the roster, third-year head coach Krystal Kelly expected a few bumps in the road along the way. She also expected to see her young players show improvement during the course of the season and her upperclassman to take a leadership role. She got it all.
The senior from Monterrey, Mexico has certainly learned how to balance between being on the women’s golf team and the academic rigor of studying psychology. Balbina Guajardo (BG) transferred from Houston Baptist where she helped lead the college to back-to-back Great West Conference titles and was named GWC ‘Player of the Year.’ This past season, she was Santa Clara’s scoring leader and competed in all nine events for the Broncos. After a month off from competition for final exams and spring break, the Santa Clara womenââ¬â¢s golf team returns to the links on Mon., April 8 at the University of Wyoming Cowgirl Classic. It will take place at the Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Ariz.
