SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara University's women's water polo Head Coach Keith Wilbur has received a National Letter of Intent from Elizabeth Anderson, a highly accomplished water polo player from Palo Alto, Calif. and a current senior at Gunn High School.

"We are very excited to have Elizabeth join our team next year," said Wilbur. "She is one of the top players in this area and she has an excellent all-around game.  She is fast, has a great outside shot, good game sense, and she is a strong post-up player in front of the cage."

Anderson's versatile skill set made her a standout in the high school ranks. At Gunn, Anderson earned team MVP in her freshman, junior and senior years.  She was also acknowledged by the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League (SCVAL) with first team all-league honors following all four prep seasons, including being named the SCVAL 'Player of the Year' as a senior in 2011.  Already with one First Team All-Central Coast Section (CCS) to her credit, Anderson hopes to add another First Team All-CCS honor to her resume when the awards are announced this upcoming week.

In addition to the accolades while representing Gunn, Anderson also honed her skills at the club level.  "Elizabeth has gained valuable experience from playing with the Stanford Club team.  They consistently compete against the top club teams in the country," said Wilbur.  "I believe Elizabeth is going to do very well in college, and we are looking forward to her becoming a Bronco."

The Anderson family has a special connection with SCU's Mission Campus.  Elizabeth will go from starring at Gunn alongside younger sister Caroline to playing with older sister Jenny Anderson, a current sophomore on the 2011-12 Bronco water polo team.
