SANTA CLARA, Calif.  –
The Santa Clara University women's water polo team aims for back-to-back Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) victories when league rival Cal State Monterey Bay visits the Sullivan Aquatic Center on Saturday at 9 a.m. A non-conference afternoon matchup with Cal Baptist will follow at 3:30 p.m.

"I think we have improved as a team over the last three weeks," said Santa Clara head coach Keith Wilbur. "We are looking forward to a rematch with Cal State Monterey and the game against Cal Baptist should be a good game as well. Cal Baptist is a good team and a good non-conference match up for us."

Four goals from senior driver Marina Allen (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley) helped the Broncos top Cal State East Bay 10-7 last Saturday, a game which upped SCU's league record to 2-4. One of those conference losses came at the hands of Cal State Monterey Bay, 10-4, back on Feb. 4.

Complementing Allen's play last weekend was continued production from sophomore Claire Eadington (Corona Del Mar/Corona Del), who leads the team in assists (19) and steals (22). Allen's 22 goals leads all SCU players this season, followed closely behind by Eadington's 20 and 18 from true freshman Ashleigh Bandimere (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad).

In goal, Stephanie Clements (San Carlos, Calif./Sacred Heart Prep) had one of her best games as a full-time starter this season, recording 10 saves in that pivotal victory over Cal State East Bay last week. 42 earned ejections from Laura Espinosa (Mountain View, Calif./Mountain View) on the season equals her pace of last season's 76, which set the Santa Clara Broncos single-season record.
