Women's Water Polo Drops Two on Opening Day of Home Tournament

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Cal State East Bay defeated Santa Clara 14-11 in a close matchup Saturday morning. The Broncos later fell 14-8 to Marist. 

Elle Fredrickson posted two early goals to give the Broncos a 7-4 lead in the first half. 

The Pioneers battled back with 10 goals in the second half to defeat the Broncos by three. 

Mia Bagiletta tallied four goals and two assists for the Broncos, and Lauren Voss contributed three goals.

Liyara Senadheera totaled 10 saves for the Broncos. 

Later in the day, the Broncos faced Marist for the second time this season.

Marist defeated Santa Clara 14-8 with an early 8-3 lead in the first half.

The Broncos were unable to recover from the deficit in the second half. 

Kelly Frumkin and Anuhea Ledesma tallied two goals each for the Broncos. 

Lauren Voss posted three steals and a goal.

The Broncos will face Brown University at 9:00 a.m. and Cal State Monterey Bay at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at Sullivan Aquatic Center.
