SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Projected MLB Draft picks Tommy Medica and Geoff Klein were among five Santa Clara University baseball players to earn All-West Coast Conference honors, as announced Thursday by the league office.

Medica - a .370 career hitter who needed just three seasons to rank sixth all-time at SCU in hits (329) - was a unanimous All-WCC First Team selection. A native of San Jose and graduate of Bellarmine Prep, Medica led the league in RBI (67), runs (60), total bases (152) and ranked in the league's top five in virtually every offensive category, including homeruns (13) and doubles (21).

Klein was also honored as an All-WCC First Team player. Klein hit .346 as a senior in 2010, with 19 doubles and 47 RBI. Klein finished his outstanding college career with offensive numbers ranking among the best in school history: .344 batting average, 52 doubles and 135 RBI.

It was the third time Medica has been picked as an All-WCC First Team player and the second time and second straight year for Klein. Both have won WCC batting titles, Medica as a freshman in 2007 and Klein as a junior in 2009.

Bronco newcomers, junior transfer Evan Peters and freshmen Matt Ozanne and Ryan Rieger were named as honorable mentions. Ozanne and Rieger drew additional praise, recognized on the league's 2010 WCC All-Freshman Team.

Peters solidified Santa Clara's middle-infield, playing both shortstop and second base, starting in all 54 games, hitting 18 doubles and posting a .368 batting average against WCC pitching.

Ozanne and Rieger emerged as two of the most productive players in Santa Clara's lineup late in the year. Ozanne - an MLB Draft pick last June who chose to attend Santa Clara rather than play professionally - hit .429 in 16 WCC games, with seven extra-base hits and 14 RBI.

Rieger led all Bronco players with a .447 batting average in 15 conference games, collecting 21 hits in 47 at-bats. The redshirt freshman from Roseville, Calif. figures to be a big part of Santa Clara's future.
