SANTA CLARA, Calif. - With the 2020-21 season in the rearview mirror, Santa Clara men's basketball has begun preparation for the fall.

Despite navigating the COVID-19 pandemic with stops and starts to the year, the Broncos managed to post their third winning record in the previous four seasons with a 12-8 mark, including a pair of wins in the West Coast Conference Tournament.

The team, which has six players returning who saw action in 2020-21, will mix on-court skill development with weight room workouts during the summer in the state of the art Schott Athletic Excellence Center.

Head coach Herb Sendek and his staff welcome eight newcomers to the program, including three transfers - Parker Braun (Missouri), Danilo Djuricic (Harvard) and PJ Pipes (Green Bay) - who signed in the spring.

The Broncos will also see the return of Josip Vrankic who will utilize a fifth season of eligibility. He is the 17th-leading scorer in school history and a three-time All-WCC selection.

Vrankic and fellow senior Keshawn Justice, and junior Jalen Williams were the top three scorers, respectively, last season. That group is back along with key rotational players in juniors Jaden Bediako and Giordan Williams, and sophomore Miguel Tomley.

Max Besselink (Helsinki, Finland), Jacob Holt (Ladner, Delta, British Columbia), Brenton Knapper (Ontario, Calif.), Carlos Stewart (Baton Rouge, La.) and Camaron Tongue (Medfield, Mass.) are all freshmen who signed last fall.
