Broncos Host New Mexico State On Wednesday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's hoops is set to play host to New Mexico State for a 7:00 p.m. PT tip inside the Leavey Center on Dec. 7th. The game will be streamed live on the WCC Network.

NOTES

  • The Broncos are playing in their 2nd of nine-straight home games. SCU is 18-4 in home games dating back to the start of the 2021-22 season and are a perfect 4-0 on the year.

  • SCU is 7-2 and riding a four-game win streak into Wednesday's game. They are currently tied for first in the WCC standings with USF. 

  • The Broncos are coming off a hard-fought 72-65 win over Sacramento State. Brandin Podziemski (27) and Carlos Stewart (22) each topped 20 points in the victory.

  • Podziemski is averaging 20.6 ppg and 9.6 rpg, good for 1st and 2nd, respectively in the WCC.

  • Podziemski is the reigning WCC Player of the Week, his second POTW award of the year. He's the first Bronco since Jared Brownridge in 2016-17 with multiple WCC POTW honors. 

  • Santa Clara ranks 16th nationally in rebounds per game (41.7) and 9th in defensive rpg (30.0).

  • Podziemski is 2nd in the WCC and 10th nationally with four double-doubles. 

  • Jaden Bediako leads the WCC with 13 total blocks and is 4th in shooting percentage at 62.5.

  • Herb Sendek has 517 victories, tied with Hall of Famer Rick Majerus for 66th all-time.

  • New Mexico State checks into the game with a 4-2 overall record and are coming off a lopsided 77-35 victory over Simon Fraser. The Aggies have one of the better offenses in the nation ranking 26th with 82.5 points per game and 19th with a 18.2 point scoring margin. They also knock down 9.8 treys per contest, good for 31st nationally. Four players are currently averaging over 10.0 point per game with Xavier Pinson leading the charge at 13.3 on 46.4 percent shooting. 

  • This will be just the third meeting all-time between the programs. The teams last met on Dec. 22, 1980 in an 81-76 Bronco victory.
