SAN JOSE, Calif. -- The Santa Clara University men's golf team is leading its own SCU Invitational after two rounds of play, in an event hosted at the Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose. Bronco Michael Nicoletti leads the entire field after carding an even-par 144 today.

Broncos Matt Klenz, Kellen Moss and Nicoletti shared the top spot on the leaderboard after the first round, after all three carded even-par 72s. Santa Clara is playing with two squads at this event, and held the top two spots in the team competition after the first round.

Only two players recorded under-par rounds today: Jong Yoon of Santa Clara posted a 70 and Brian Little of Sacramento State carded a 71. Both scores came during the afternoon run of the course. Little is tied with Nicoletti in first place, and Yoon is four strokes back in third. Jonathan Edwards and Moss are also currently in the top 10.

Santa Clara Red carded a 12-over-par 295-293--588 in the first two rounds of action today, which was played on a par-72, 6,926-yard layout. The team competing as Santa Clara White carded a 41-over-par 301-316--617 and is currently in sixth place. Holy Names is in second place, 20 strokes off the Bronco Red pace. West Coast Conference programs Gonzaga and Portland follow in third and fourth place, respectively.

Edwards is in fourth place with a 149, Eric Lillibridge is in 13th with a 153 and Klenz is in 20th with a 155 to round out the SCU Red squad. Moss is tied for sixth with his 150, and is followed by John Colyar in 13th with a 153, Tim Lynch in 30th with a 158, Blair Myers in 36th with a 159 and Chris DeMartini in 40th with a 160.

The final round will begin Tuesday morning, with tee times beginning at 7:15 a.m. Golfers competing as individuals will begin first, and will be followed by the teams. The SCU White team will begin teeing off at 8:19 a.m. and the Red squad will follow at 8:59 a.m.
