SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - After the first two rounds of the 62nd Annual Western Intercollegiate, the Santa Clara men's golf team is tied for 11th place. After a tough first round in which the team shot a combined 306 to land in 14th place after the first round, the Broncos bounced back with a 300 to move up three spots Wednesday evening.

Jimmy Cacho took the lead for the Broncos, shooting a two-over 72 to sit in 12th place after the first round. Cacho was one-over in his first nine of the second round, but a string of bogeys and a triple-bogey on his 14th hole dropped him to an eight-over 78 on the round and +10 overall to tie for 32nd place.

Scott Travers, fresh off his WCC Player of the Month award, had a difficult start to his day, shooting nine-over par before a final hole birdie gave him an eight-over 78 for the first round. Travers settled down considerably in the second round with a two-over before a double-bogey on his last hole ended his day at +12 and tied for 45th.

Tim Lynch started slowly with a first round of 11-over-par, but calmed things down in his second round with an even par back nine to go four-over on the round and +15 for the tournament so far to put him tied for 64th.

Alex Bon had an almost identical round to Lynch, with an 11-over first round and a four-over second round to sit at +15 and tied for 64th with Lynch.

Jonathan Keane was second on the team after the first round, shooting a five-over 75 and actually brought his score down to three-over after the first five holes of his second round, but after a double-bogey on his sixth hole his round started to come undone. A string of bogeys helped contribute to his second round of an 11-over 81, leaving him at +16 for the tournament and tied for 70th place.

The Broncos will complete the final round of the 62nd Annual Western Intercollegiate Thursday, March 27 starting at 8 a.m.
