The Santa Clara men's golf team is hosting the Santa Clara Invitational this week at Silver Creek Country Club. After the first two rounds today the Broncos currently sit in third place at -2, trailing leader Oklahoma by nine strokes. The weather was picture perfect today, but still Santa Clara is only one of three teams under par.

Senior Tim Lynch shot a one over 73 in the first round and followed it up with by far his best round of the year, shooting a 66 to move into fifth place going into the final round at -5.

Scott Travers also shot a 73 in the first round and followed it up with a round under par. Travers second round score of 69 leaves him with a two round score of -2 and tied for eighth place.

Jonathan Keane shot a 73 in both rounds today to finish round two at +2 and is looking for another top 20 finish. Keane is currently in a tie for 16th place.

Playing in his first collegiate tournament, sophomore Shaun Pienkos shot a one under 71 in the first round of the day. He followed it with a 77 in the second and remains tied for 27th heading into the final round.

Also making his debut as a Bronco was Stewart Loop. Loop shot a 75 and 76 respectively today to sit at +7 and tied for 44th place.

Santa Clara will look to take the strong final round of their last tournament, the Oklahoma Intercollegiate, and duplicate it tomorrow to contend for the lead. The teams tee off at 8 a.m. in a shotgun format once again at Silver Creek Country Club in San Jose.
