SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's rowing opened the season at the Davis Invitational on Saturday. The Broncos had a strong showing, finishing first in the Varsity 8, Varsity 4, Novice 4, and JV 4, while finishing second in the Novice 8. The Broncos raced against crews from Mills College, Cal, and UC Davis. Click here for full results.

"This is always a great warm up regatta for us," said Santa Clara head coach John Wojtkiewicz. "Davis is always a great host and they are a very competitive club team with a lot of tradition. This regatta is always very competitive between our teams."

With four boats coming in first, Wojtkiewicz was happiest with the Varsity 8.

"I was happy with the Varsity 8's time in particular given the time of year and the conditions," explained Wojtkiewicz. "My hope is we can use this momentum to carry the team further through the training before our first big test at the San Diego Crew Classic in a month."

Santa Clara returns to the water on Sat., March 28 at the San Diego Crew Classic at Mission Bay.
