Seven Women's Rowers Named All-Academic

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – With the WCC Championships this weekend, Santa Clara women's rowing had seven players honored by the conference for their work in the classroom. Brenda Arellano was named to the All-Academic Team while Britney Belme, Katie Bond, Hollynd Boyden, Jacqueline Cummings, Analisa Goossens, and Mary Smith were all Honorable Mention.

"If this is not the largest group of student-athletes we've had honored as All-Academic, it's one of the largest," said Santa Clara head coach John Wojtkiewicz. "Brenda has been a great leader academically for the team since she's been here and we're very proud that she's representing us in this way."

Arellano, a senior, has a 3.78 GPA in Psychology. She has raced in all five events for the Broncos this season.

Belme has a 3.25 GPA in Biology as a senior. Bond has a 3.38 GPA in Biomedical Engineering as a junior. Boyden has a 3.72 GPA in Biology as a sophomore. Cummings has a 3.71 GPA in Bioengineering as a sophomore. Goossens has a 3.29 GPA in Biology as a senior. Smith has a 3.23 GPA in Psychology as a senior.

The season wraps up Sat., May 16 for the Broncos at the WCC Championships at Lake Natoma in Sacramento.
