Women's Rowing Tops Mills College To Open Season

LOS GATOS, Calif. – Santa Clara women's rowing opened its season Sunday against Mills College on Lexington Reservoir. The Broncos raced their V8, JV8, and V4 boats while winning each race.

"The team was able to execute what we had been emphasizing in practice, especially in the last week, and from a coaching standpoint, that's all I can really expect," Santa Clara head coach Matt Pinschmidt said. "We're hoping to build off that for this week of practices and in our racing next Sunday."

The Broncos had a little extra support on Sunday, with Santa Clara men's water polo coming out to show their support.

"I want to say a huge thank you to the men's water polo team who came out to support us," Pinschmidt said. "It was fantastic to have a cheering gallery for the finish of each race, especially since it was a totally student-athlete driven plan initiated by men's water polo and worked out between the two teams."
