Women's Golf in 11th Place After Day One of Bay Area Classic

VALLEJO, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's golf team finished day one of the Bay Area Classic in 11th place after shooting 349 at the par-72 Hiddenbrooke Country Club in Vallejo, Calif.

Candice Palmer and Meggie Fadgundes each sit in a tie for 37th place after each firing rounds of 12-over par, 84. Courtney Dimpel-Composti finished day one in 56th place after her 17-over par round of 89. Nikki Mack is in 62nd place after her 92 while Jessica Lamberty is 63rd place following her 94.

California and Washington, each ranked in the top-10, sit in first and second place, respectively after 18 holes of the 36-hole event. The 10th-ranked Golden Bears shot an opening round 296 as a team while the 9th-ranked Huskies fired a 312.

Individually, California's Sarah Huarte shot and even-par, 72, on the first day to take the lead in the tournament, followed by teammate Sophia Sheridan who shot a 2-over par, 74.

The second and final round of the fifth annual Bay Area Classic will be contested Wednesday morning at the Hiddenbrooke C.C. The Arnold Palmer designed course is playing at 5,931 yards in length this week for the tournament.
