Women's Golfer Finishes Third at State Fair Women's Championship

Sept. 10, 2002

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara University women's golfer Courtney Dimpel-Composti fired rounds of 73 and 74 to finish third at the recently completed State Fair Women's Championships held at theBarley Cavanaugh golf course in Sacramento, Calif.

The incoming sophomore had her highest finish in a field that included nearly 25 participants on the par-71 track. The competition for Dimpel-Composti was big in that she was able to play in the final grouping on the final day.

"Courtney has been visualizing the opportunity to play in the final group on a Sunday and finishing strong," said head coach Polly Schulze. "That was the case at the State Fair Women's Championships for her. On Sunday, coming up 18, she placed her drive in the fairway, stuck her 2nd shot 6 feet from the pin and sunk it for a birdie."

I've seen such a turnaround in Courtney's ability to be strong mentally that I believe she will add great value to the team this year. I'm looking forward to it."

Dimpel-Composti and her Bronco teammates will begin the 2002-03 season on September 30th at the Lady Vandal Classic hosted by Boise State in Moscow, Idaho. For a complete look at the this year's schedule please Click Here.
