SANTA CLARA, Calif.- The young Bronco women's tennis team continues their promising fall season this weekend at the ITA Regional tournament held at Stanford University. Last weekend the Broncos piled up an impressive 7-4 singles record against all West Coast Conference opponents and are looking to improve even more this weekend.

"We showed a lot of improvement at Saint Mary's," said Bronco head coach Ben Cabell. "Everyone got a win during the day and it gives us a lot of confidence to see our young players defeating conference schools so early in the season."

Junior Carmen Pham was one of the many bright stars for the Broncos at Saint Mary's, making it all the way to the singles semifinals in her flight and defeating Stanford's Natalie Dillon, 6-4, 6-2.

"As the oldest player on a very young team this year, Carmen's experience really showed this past weekend," said Cabell. "She's displayed a lot of leadership and it's great to see her get some big wins."

Additionally, freshmen Alex Zaniewski and Mary Chamaki earned their first collegiate wins.

After gathering such an impressive singles record against WCC opponents last weekend, the Broncos are looking forward to measuring their success against other teams at the ITA Regionals this weekend. In addition to other local WCC teams, PAC-10 and Big West schools will also be represented at the tournament to give the Broncos a challenge. Says Cabell, "this weekend we will be facing a lot of big players and competitive teams. It's going to be a big test for ourselves and we'll be able to see where we're at right now and where we need to be."
