Erich Chen joins the coaching staff this season, following an outstanding four-year playing career at Santa Clara. He will assist the men's program in recruiting, game-day coaching, fundraising and player development.

"We are very fortunate to have Erich contribute his knowledge, experience and leadership to our program," head coach George Husack said. "He had a great Bronco career and his accomplishments both on and off the court will continue to have a tremendous impact to all our players."

A two-time team captain, Chen finished his career with the most singles (72) and doubles (63) victories in Bronco recordbooks. He is also a three-time All-West Coast Conference honoree. Academically, Chen is a three-time Bronco Scholar-Athlete of the Week, while also receiving the Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar honor on two occasions, ITA All-Academic recognition as a junior, and WCC All-Academic as a sophomore.

"It's great to have the opportunity to be part of the team again," Chen said. "Everybody has made it easy by accepting my new position, and I'm excited for the upcoming season.They're an awesome group of guys, and I hope to use my four years of college tennis experience to help the team achieve its goals for this season."

At Bellarmine Prep in San Jose, Chen led the Bells to the Central Coast Section semifinals and was a singles finalist in the CCS tournament and named to the All-West Coast Athletic League first team.

Chen earned his bachelor's degree with honors in computer engineering in 2004 and is currently an analyst with Accenture, a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company. A Bay Area native, Chen is single and resides in San Jose.
