SAN DIEGO (AP) - Kyle Bailey scored a career-high 28 points and keyed a 27-3 second-half run that turned a close game into a rout, lifting Santa Clara to an 86-77 win over San Diego on Saturday night.
Bailey scored 10 points in the decisive run, including consecutive 3-pointers that stretched the Broncos' lead into double digits. Santa Clara turned a two-point deficit with 14:17 left in the game into 64-42 lead as Bailey's basket at the 6:28 mark capped the run.
Santa Clara (7-10, 2-2 West Coast Conference) avenged Wednesday's 82-73 loss Wednesday to San Diego at home.
The Toreros, who led 27-26 at halftime, went more than 9{ minutes without a field goal in the second half as the Broncos took control of the game.
Andre Laws led San Diego (10-7, 2-2) with 19 points as he moved into 12th place on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,105 points. Jason Blair chipped in with 18 points.
Bailey made 13-of-15 free throws, including all 10 in the final four minutes as San Diego was forced to foul. The Broncos finished 25-of-38 from the line.
Bakari Altheimer scored a career-high 14 points for Santa Clara, which shot 53.1 percent from the field.
