Men's Hoops Travels to Ohio

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's basketball team returns to action following an 11-day layoff for final exams Wednesday when they play the first of two games in the state of Ohio.

The Broncos (1-4) take on the Buckeyes of Ohio State (5-0) Wednesday night at 5 p.m. (pacific) in the Value City Arena (19,200 capacity) in Columbus, Ohio. The game will be televised live regionally on ESPN Plus and nationally on ESPN's Full Court pay-per-view package. Mike Gleason and Bill Hosket will call the action.

Following the Ohio State contest, Santa Clara will travel to Dayton, Ohio to play Wright State (4-3) on Saturday at 10 a.m. (pacific) at the Ervin J. Nutter Center (capacity 11,019). The Raiders have a contest against Oakland University on Tuesday night in their final game prior to hosting Santa Clara. The Wright State vs. Santa Clara game will be televised in Dayton on WBDT Channel 26. The broadcast will not be available in the Bay Area.

Santa Clara is led by senior forward Steve Ross and sophomore guard Kyle Bailey. The duo account for 26.4 of the Broncos' 62.0 points per game. Freshman Jordan Legge is the team's leading rebounder, averaging 5.6 boards per game.

The Broncos return to the Bay Area on Dec. 18-19 at the annual Stanford Invitational. Santa Clara plays Portland State in the first game of the tournament on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m., while Stanford faces Belmont at 8 p.m.. The consolation and championship games are scheduled for 4:30 and 8 p.m. respectively on the 19th.

Santa Clara returns home to the newly-remodeled Leavey Center on Saturday, Dec. 22 in a non-conference matchup against Chico State. For tickets, click here or call the athletic ticket office at 408/554-4066.

Tickets are still available for the 35th annual Cable Car Classic, scheduled for Dec. 28-29 at the Leavey Center. The Broncos will face UMBC in the first game at 6 p.m. on Friday, while UC Santa Barbara will take-on last year's NIT semifinalist Detroit in the second game at 8 p.m.
