Four Players Earn Men’s Water Polo All-Conference Honors

OAKLANDShane Hughes, Mac Carey, Dominick Kirk and Chase Zamborelli of Santa Clara men's water polo were rewarded for their play during the regular season.

Hughes was voted to the 2019 All-Western Water Polo Association second team while Kirk and Zamborelli secured spots on the All-Freshman team. Carey was awarded honorable mention all-conference.

Hughes, a senior, has a team-best 51 goals this regular season. He also leads the team in steals (32).

Zamborelli played 14 games in the net and led the team in blocks (151), registering double-digit save totals eight times throughout the regular season. Kirk ranks second on the team in steals (22) and third on the team in assists (26).

A senior, Carey ranks first on the team in both assists (61) and kickouts drawn (37). Carey also ranks second on the team in goals scored (44).

Carey is the school's all-time leader in assists with 176. Hughes is fourth with 137.

The Broncos will play in the WWPA Championship, which begins Friday at California Baptist.
