Members of the Santa Clara University women's golf team continue to show their active involvement in the community after hosting a Meet the Team Night on November 5 at the San Jose Country Club. The group of about 25 in attendance was made up of members of the country club and other friends of the program.

The night included food and drink for the guests and each team member had a chance to speak about how much the Santa Clara golf program has meant to her. Each guest was given a raffle ticket upon arrival and SCU gear was awarded as prizes. A few lucky winners went home with the coveted `Bucky the Bronco' headcover.

As a result of the Broncos' efforts in the Birdies for Wishes Campaign, the team was able to present a check to Heather Boccia of the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation for $4,600. Last season, the team collected pledges for every birdie made in competition. These donations were passed along to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, an organization which works to fulfill the wishes of ill children. A Birdies for Wishes pledge sheet for this season can be found by clicking here.

The night ended with a speech by team captain Courtney Dimpel-Composti, who talked about what her years as a Santa Clara Bronco have meant to her and discussed the lessons she has learned along the way.

"Being a Bronco is more than just wearing the logo on a collared shirt; it is a way of life," said the senior.

The heartfelt speech was enjoyed by the guests as well as Courtney's teammates and coach.

The Santa Clara women's golf team will hold a second Meet the Team Night in the spring to highlight the team's accomplishments.

Santa Clara will return to action to start the spring season February 21-22, when the Broncos take part at the USF/SJSU Bay Area Classic, hosted at the Boulder Ridge Golf Course in San Jose.
