Jessica Clee Picks Up PCSC Player of the Week Honors

Seattle, Wash. - After an outstanding offensive performance this past week, Santa Clara senior Jessica Clee was named the Pacific Coast Softball Conference's Player of the Week the league announced today.  This is Clee's second conference honor, winning the award on March 27, and the fourth overall for the Broncos as senior Shannon Linerud won the PCSC Player of the Week award on February 13 and sophomore hurler Jerrica Castagno picked up the PCSC Pitcher of the Week honor on March 3.

In six games the past week, Clee hit .529 after a stellar 9-17 performance at the plate. Five of her hits were doubles and she added a grand slam to her total offensive numbers. The 5-7 left fielder had a 1.000 slugging percentage for the week and also tallied an impressive .609 on-base percentage. The Milbrae, Calif. native scored six runs with seven RBIs and was also walked four times in leading Santa Clara to a 4-2 record, with a two-game sweep of South Bay foe San Jose State and a four-game split with PCSC rival Loyola Marymount.

Santa Clara is currently 20-32 on the year, with a 7-9 mark in the Pacific Coast Conference, and will return to action this afternoon with a doubleheader against the University of Oregon up in Eugene, Ore. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
