Santa Clara Athletics hosted the second annual SCU Celebrity Golf Tournament Monday, May 4 at Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club in Menlo Park, Calif. The tournament benefitted Santa Clara Athletics and the Bronco Bench Foundation. Jensen Cunningham (JC) put a lot of hard work into the 2015 sand volleyball season after transferring to Santa Clara University in the middle of her freshman year. Cunningham told Santa Clara Broncos (SCB) that she is already looking forward to the indoor season and is excited to find out what she will bring to the Bronco team.

Last week marked the first spring West Coast Conference championship of 2015 and five more Bronco teams all have championships on the line in the coming days. We begin the episode with Bronco golf, which wrapped up the WCC championships last week at the Saticoy Country Club in Somis, Calif.
Sophomore Nikki Hess (NH) of the women’s volleyball team caught up with Santa Clara Broncos (SCB) about the 2015 sand season as well as what she is most looking forward to this fall.

Santa Clara’s sand team will play two weekday matches this week. First, the No. 18 Broncos will travel to Cal on April 15 for a 3 pm match with the Bears and then finish play this week with Saint Mary’s on April 17 at 3 pm at Los Gatos High School.
Santa Clara’s sand volleyball team travelled to Southern California last weekend to compete in the USA Volleyball Collegiate Beach Challenge. There were seven top 20 teams in the competition, including the No. 16 Broncos. Santa Clara played two matches vs. top 15 teams, including No. 1 Southern California, and also played in the pairs tournament.
This weekend Santa Clara’s sand volleyball team, ranked No. 16 nationally by DiG magazine, will travel to Southern California to play in one of the top sand tournaments this spring, the USA Volleyball Collegiate Challenge.
No. 16 Santa Clara won 4-1 at Sacramento State on Wednesday. The Broncos are off until next weekend when they compete in the Hermosa Open in Southern California. The Broncos move to 6-2 with the win.
Santa Clara's sand volleyball team, ranked No. 16 nationally, finished as the runner-up at the Santa Cruz Duals on Saturday on Main Beach in Santa Cruz. Posting a 2-1 record, the Broncos lost in the finals to No. 3 Hawaii. The Broncos are now 5-2 this season.

Santa Clara’s sand volleyball team, ranked No. 15 nationally, will host the Santa Cruz Duals March 28-29 in Santa Cruz, Calif. Also playing in the two-day tournament with the Broncos will be USF, Cal, No. 1 Hawaii, Cal Poly and CSU Bakersfield. In the latest poll CSU Bakersfield received votes.

With four teams winning 2-0 matches, No. 15 Santa Clara sand volleyball defeated local rival San Jose State 4-1 on Thursday in Los Gatos. The Broncos move to 3-1 and San Jose State falls to 0-4.
After a successful weekend, which was capped with a 3-2 win over then-No. 7 Saint Mary’s, Santa Clara’s sand volleyball team moved up three notches to No. 15 in this week’s national poll by DiG magazine.
Santa Clara’s sand volleyball team finished the weekend with a 2-1 record at the Stanford Invitational, finishing in third place. The No. 18 Broncos defeated USF 3-2, lost a close one to No. 12 Stanford, 2-3, and came back an hour later to defeat No. 7 Saint Mary’s 3-2. The Broncos also competed well in the pairs competition Saturday afternoon and Sunday.
Santa Clara, ranked No. 18 in the preseason poll, opens its spring sand season at Stanford this weekend. Its first match is vs. USF on Fri., March 6 at 3 pm. The winner will advance to play the winner of the Stanford – Sac State match on Saturday. Cal, Pacific, San Jose State and Saint Mary’s will also play in the tournament that runs through Sunday.
