Up Next

This Saturday, Santa Clara will travel to Sonoma, Calif. to take on Sonoma State in the teams' third battle this year. Santa Clara has won the first two meetings this year, first by a tight score of 8-6 at home and then 11-3 at Slugfest. Amy Lamb had four goals and an assist in the last meeting.

Last Week

The Broncos went 2-2 last week at LMU Invitational, playing all of their games against teams that were ranked or receiving votes. In the game of the year so far, Santa Clara took down host at No. 11 Loyola Marymount in 3OT. The Broncos then lost their next two games against No. 7 UC Davis 8-5 later in the day and then to CS Bakersfield 7-6 in the first game on Saturday. But Santa Clara finished off the weekend strong, defeating No. 15 UC San Diego 5-4 in a hard fought defensive battle.

Notes

Capurro's Block Pary
Randahl Capurro has been extremely solid in goal all year, but decided to go off this past weekend at the LMU Invitational. In the four games, Capurro blocked 62 shots, including a 21 block game against LMU in triple-overtime. Capurro's 208 blocks this year are third most in the nation, and her 13.4 blocks per game average are second in the nation for ten or more games.

SCU Back in the Rankings
Santa Clara is finally back in the national rankings after a successful LMU Invitational. The Broncos are 19th and a solid eight votes ahead of 20th place, so they look to either stay there or move up for a good amount of time.

Lamb Gives and Gets
Amy Lamb has turned herself into a scoring machine in the second half of the season so far. Her 26 goals are tied for 36th in the nation and are tops on the team. But Lamb has not been hogging the ball either. Her 27 assists are tops on the team.

Clutch Shot
Trailing by one against LMU with the clock winding down in the fourth quarter, Allie Lamb saw a shot and took it, knocking it down and tying the game with six seconds left in regulation. Her sister Amy would go on to score the winning goal in sudden death overtime in the first possession of the third OT.
