Broncos Defeat Sonoma State 9-4

SONOMA, CALIF. - The Santa Clara women's water polo team defeated Sonoma State 9-4 in their third meeting of the year. Eight different players scored the nine goals for the Broncos.

Amy Lamb had two goals for another multi-goal game along with three assists. Allie Lamb had one goal with an assist and a kickout drawn. Emily Bonk had one goal with an assist and two steals. Kendra Betke scored once and had three steals with a kickout drawn. Elizabeth Perry had one goal, two steals, and a kickout drawn. Claire Linney scored one goal with an assist, a steal, and two kickouts drawn. Christie Miller had a goal with an assist and a steal. Briana Anderson scored once and had an assist and two steals. Meg Zimmerman also chipped in by drawing a five-meter penalty.

Randahl Capurro played the majority of the game, blocking 13 shots and recording a steal. Wren White played the final 2.5 minutes and had four blocks.

"I thought we played a consistently strong game in a tough environment," said head coach Keith Wilbur. "We came out strong and kept it going throughout the game. We created good offensive opportunities and got some good shots on goal."

Santa Clara gets a two week break before getting heading to Indiana for the Fluid Five. The two day event starts March 29th.
