SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's water polo team concluded play at the Triton Tournament Sunday. The Broncos fell to CSU Bakersfield, 9-5, in the morning and to Marist, 14-6, in the afternoon. Junior utility Kathryn Fraser took over goalie duties for SCU, after sophomore goalie Wren White broke her finger in yesterday's action. Fraser tallied 13 blocks, four steals and an assist in the cage on the day.
"Kathryn stepped up for us after Wren went down yesterday," said head coach Keith Wilbur. "We are a little banged up right now, but everyone is working hard to step up and we should all be healthy soon."
Offensively, redshirt junior Maria Jarrell led the Broncos. The SCU utility had a goal in both games. Also seeing the back of the net versus the Roadrunners of Bakersfield, was Allie Lamb, Rochelle Stowe, Laura Espinosa and Jade Look, who each had a goal apiece. In the afternoon, Amy Lamb, Kendal Hildebrand, Claire Linney and Taylor Harkins tallied a goal each, as well.
The Broncos return to the pool on Friday, February 20. They will host Cal Baptist at 3 p.m. at the Sullivan Aquatic Center.
