ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - The No. 20 Santa Clara women's water polo team fell 12-4 to conference rival Sonoma State Thursday afternoon at the Dr. G. Edward Rudloff Pool at SSU. The upset loss brings the Broncos to a .500 winning percentage and an 11-11 overall, 6-2 WWPA record. Sonoma improves to 7-10 overall and 5-2 in WWPA play.

After taking an immediate 2-0 lead in the first period, off goals from Meg Zimmerman and Amy Lamb, the Seawolves went on a 5-0 run to conclude the first half. Opening up the third quarter was Claire Linney, who tallied two steals, a kick out and an assist in the contest. Linney and the Santa Clara offense could not get on the board again until the final period of play. In the fourth Marina Allen closed out the Broncos' scoring run with a lone goal.

SCU looks to rebound this weekend at the ASU Invitational. They will take on Arizona State, California Baptist, Cal Lutheran and UC Irvine at the Arizona State hosted tournament in Tempe, Ariz.
