Amy Lamb Named All-American

June 29, 2009

Culminating an outstanding career at Santa Clara, Amy Lamb has been named All-American with the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) as an Honorable Mention selection. Lamb is the second Bronco to earn All-America honors under Bronco Head Coach Keith Wilbur, who enters his eighth season with the program.

"Amy has had a great career at Santa Clara, and I am very happy they she has been recognized as an All-American in her senior year," said Wilbur. "She was captain and MVP of our team, and she had an outstanding year."

Lamb led the Broncos' offense with 50 goals, 43 assists and 22 kick outs drawn. The native of Long Beach, Calif. also tallied 31 steals on the season.

Lamb was named to the Western Water Polo (WWPA) First Team, her second All-WWPA selection, and to the Second Team all tournament team at the WWPA Conference Championships held at the Sullivan Aquatic Center.

"Amy would be the first to point to the accomplishments of the team as a reason for her being named an All-American," said Wilbur. "But I would add that Amy was instrumental to the success of the team this year."

"I could not have been named an All-American if it weren't for my teammates and the coaches I have had," said Lamb. "I have played water polo for over 10 years and it is great to end my career as an All-American. I am proud to be able to represent the Santa Clara women's water polo team as an All-American."

With the help of Lamb the Broncos earned their first ever second-place finish in the 2009 WWPA Conference Championships in April. Santa Clara hosted the tournament for the first time in the program's history. Santa Clara finished the season ranked No. 17 nationally, the fourth straight season it has finished in the top 20. The first All-American under Wilbur was Lindsey Bacolini 2006; she also earned honorable mention honors.
