Women's Water Polo Falls To Pacific 11-4

STOCKTON, Calif. -

The Santa Clara women's water polo team fell to Pacific, 11-4, today in Stockton.  The Broncos move to 6-6 on the season with the loss and will return to the pool on Feb. 27 to host The Rodeo at the Sullivan Aquatic Center.

Santa Clara and Pacific traded goals for most of the first quarter.  Senior Meg Zimmerman opened scoring at the 7:02 mark and sophomore Sarah Safir got the Broncos' second goal.  The Tigers' Jssmine Myles put Pacific up 3-2 with 39 seconds to play in the first.

Myles then scored three consecutive goals in the second half to give the Tigers a 6-2 lead at halftime.

Pacific went up 9-2 before senior Rochelle Stowe stopped the charge, scoring with 4:21 to play in the fourth quarter.  After Stowe's goal, freshman goalie Stephanie Clements replaced junior starter Wren White in the cage.  White had 11 saves.

The Tigers scored two more before the end of the game and freshman Alison Norris closed the match with the Broncos' fourth goal with 38 seconds left.

Santa Clara will meet Pacific next Saturday at 4 p.m. as part of The Rodeo at the Mission Campus.
