Azusa Pacific Holds Off Women's Water Polo

GLENDORA, Calif. — The Santa Clara University women's water polo team wrapped up its Southern California road trip Saturday with a setback, falling at Golden Coast Conference foe Azusa Pacific, 13-8, at the Citrus College Aquatics Center.

Chloe Morrison led the Broncos (7-12, 0-3 GCC) with four goals. Lauren Baglietto, Sydney Mccabe, Halley Seed and Lauren Voss all scored one goal each. Kate Rodman led Santa Clara with two steals. Liyara Senadheera made 10 saves in net as the Broncos' goalie Saturday.

Skylar Ford scored a team-high four goals for the Cougars (12-7, 1-1 GCC) and added an assist and two steals. Daniela Herrero Miralles had 14 saves for APU. Azusa Pacific only led by one goal after the first period, 4-3. It expanded its lead to 8-4 at halftime, then grew it larger with three more goals in the third to lead, 11-6.

Santa Clara returns home on Saturday for two matches in one day. The Broncos face Pacific in a GCC matchup at  10 a.m., then will face Harvard in a non-conference tilt at 4:30 p.m. Fans can find all live coverage links at SantaClaraBroncos.com.
