NOTES

• The Broncos began the season with a fourth-place finish at the USF Invitational.
• Santa Clara took first in the open category at the annual Bronco Invite last season.
• Santa Clara finished fifth at the 2021 West Coast Conference Championships.
• Abbey Meck was the first Bronco to finish and took 27th with a time of 21:49.9. Also scoring was JJ Escalera (30th, 22:02.9), Kinsey Hall (38th, 22:25.9), Hannah Covington (44th, 22:37.5), and Kaitlyn Twadell (47th, 22:45.8). Adelaide Vergnolle, Luciana Lenth, Hannah Aguirre, Irene Nagasaka, and Maiya Fujiwara also raced. All racers return except Covington and Twadell.
• JJ Escalera (20:38 at Bronco Invitational), Abbey Meck (20:41 at Bronco Invitational), and Kinsey Hall (21:18 at Bronco Invitational) all cracked the program's top-10 6k list last year. The whole list can be found here.

QUOTABLE
"We've got two races coming up over the next two weeks, and so this first weekend against Saint Mary's is a chance for some of our younger athletes to get another race in, and familiarize themselves with our home course, and get some more 6k experience leading into some bigger races ahead. We had a great showing against the Gaels in the first race of the year, but this being a dual will present a bigger challenge for us, but we are prepared and up for it."
