Basketball Hosts Bethany Monday
Santa Clara, 8-7, will host its last non-conference game of the season and its first game of the new year on Mon., Jan. 3 when it hosts Bethany College (Calif.) at 7 pm in the Leavey Center. Bethany enters the game with an 0-12 record.
Santa Clara has won three of its last five games, including an 85-70 victory over Fordham as the consolation game of the 44th Annual Cable Car Classic on Dec. 30.
Bethany University is located in Scotts Valley, Calif. and plays in the California Pacific Conference as part of the NAIA Division I. Bethany's last game was on Dec. 20, an 86-73 loss to University of Puget Sound. Bethany features two players averaging double-figures with Marqus Crawford averaging 13.4 ppg and Travis Derochowski averaging 10.0 ppg. Derochowski leads the team with 6.6 rpg. Nyjis McGhee leads Bethany with 2.4 apg.

In addition, Santa Clara will showcase each non-televised 2010-11 men's and women's home basketball game this season free of charge via Stretch Internet on www.SantaClaraBroncos.com. With the help of the WCC, the Santa Clara University athletic department recently made several upgrades to its audio and video components in the Leavey Center and now has the ability to webcast games with a three-camera system. Radio feeds from the games will be integrated into the webcast when available.

WCC Play Begins Saturday!
Santa Clara starts West Coast Conference play on Sat., Jan. 13 with an 8 pm game vs. San Francisco. The game will be shown on Comcast TV. USF enters the game with a 6-9 record. The Dons feature three players in double figures: Michael Williams scores 16.1 ppg, Angelo Caloiaro scores 10.7 ppg and Perris Blackwell 10.3 ppg. Caloiaro leads the team with 7.2 rpg.
