2013-14 (RS/JR):

Played 4 min. in season opener missing both 3FGA with a reb. vs. Bethesda (11/8/13) ... 0-1 FG playing 4 min. in 1st action since season opener at CS Bakersfield (12/5) ... played 8 min. at Cal Poly (12/7) ... 9 min. with 1 reb. vs. La Sierra (12/14) ... scored 3 pts. making his 1st FG of the season (3FG) on his only attempt with 2 reb., 1 ast. and 1 stl. in season-most 12 min. vs. Radford (12/16) ... made his only FG for 2 pts. with 2 reb. and 1st blk. in 11 min. vs. Sacred Heart (12/18) ... had 1 reb. in 2 min. at UNLV (12/22) ... saw action for the first time in 9 games playing a season-high tying 12 min. with 2 reb. vs. BYU (1/18) ... had a stl. and 4 fouls in 8 min. at BYU (2/6) ... played 7 min. at San Diego seeing action in consecutive games for the first time since Dec. 2011-12:

Spent a year at The University of Hawaii at Hilo … played in 25 of 26 games averaging 2.1 ppg and 1.3 rpg ... scored a season-best 11 pts. on 4 of 8 FGs (3 of 5 3s) in 22 min. at Dixie St. (1/24/12) ... earned the dean’s list with a 3.9 first semester and a 4.0 second semester.  

2010-11: Was a manager with the Bronco men’s basketball team. 

HIGH SCHOOL:  

Graduated from Aspen High School in 2010 …  played for Steve Ketchum  on the basketball court and Mike Sirko on the football field … in 2010 was a McDonald’s All-American Nominee, Colorado Max Preps Player of the Year, 1st team all-state and Western Slope Conference Player of the Year … averaged 15.4 ppg, 3 apg, 3.8 rpg, 4 spg and 1.2 bpg his senior year … averaged 11.8 ppg, 1.6 apg, 4.5 rpg, 1.8 spg and .9 bpg his junior year … lead team to the best record in school history 26-1, 16-0 in conference, finishing 2nd in state his senior year … lead his high school to consecutive Elite 8’s during the  2009 and ‘10 seasons and to back-to-back Western Slope Conference championships the same years … on the grid-iron, as a receiver, he averaged 44.1 yards per game and 24.81 yards per catch and scored 4 touchdowns … was named 2nd team all conference … member of the National Honor Society and participated for three years as a Mentor in the Buddy Program, helping underprivileged children from the community.

PERSONAL: 

Son of Kurt and Joanne Papenfus … Dad is an E.R. doctor who went to Colorado State as an undergrad and Colorado-Boulder for med school … Mom is a home nurse … has a younger brother, Stephan, at University of Northern Colorado … Grandfather Art Papenfus, had a full-ride to play football at Marquette but turned it down to pursue a teaching career … working on launching a start up company which makes customizable shin guards… majoring in Marketing with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Economics.

Why Santa Clara?:

“I choose Santa Clara because of the outstanding business school and the opportunities in the business world that a Santa Clara degree creates. I also came because of the location within the Silicon Valley, which provides excellent networking opportunities at companies like Apple and Google. Also I was ready to get out of the snow and catch some rays. Besides the education, I felt like Santa Clara was my best chance to prove to everybody back home that I could become a D-1 basketball player. In 2011, I was offered a scholarship at the University of Hawaii, Hilo and took the chance to pursue my playing career and be an impact player. After a year, I realized that the quality of education, caliber of the basketball program, and the family of coaches and players that I left behind at Santa Clara was worth coming back to. I choose to return to pursue a better degree and my dream of becoming a Division I basketball player. “
