Marjorie Setchko is in her second year as an assistant coach and her first as associate head coach. She was hired in September 2021. Setchko comes to the Broncos with extensive experience working with all ages and at all levels of rowing.

As the women’s assistant coach at George Washington University in 2019, Setchko worked primarily with the 3V8 and V4. Their respective first and second place finishes at the A10 Conference Championships helped the team achieve its highest points total in program history and second place overall in the conference.

The previous spring, she led the Cal lightweights to winning performances in two events at Dad Vails as well as silver and bronze medal finishes at the American Collegiate Rowing Association Championships. In 2017, the lightweight Bears earned two golds, a silver, and a bronze at the WIRA championships followed by two victories at the ACRA Championships.

Setchko started rowing as a walk-on at Cornell University, where she capped her senior year with a silver medal at the Eastern Sprints. Upon graduation, she spent eight years training at the elite level, during which time she won Elite Nationals sweep rowing & sculling, as an open weight and lightweight, as well as a coxswain. Additionally, she placed second at the PanAm Games in the lightweight pair, won Head of the Charles three times in the lightweight four, and twice won both Canadian Henley and San Diego Crew Classic.

A Berkeley native and residing in Alameda, Setchko took a break from rowing to raise a blended family of 10 kids with her husband, Dirk.
