Women's Basketball

Marissa White was named an assistant coach of the Santa Clara women's basketball program in July 2009. Along with her coaching duties, White is the staff liaison responsible for fundraising, marketing and promotions, community service, scouting, recruiting and film exchange.

White helped SCU sign one of the NCAA's top recruiting classes prior to the 2011-12 season, when ESPN ranked the Broncos incoming class No. 55 nationally. Since her arrival at SCU, the Broncos have increased their win-total each of her four seasons and have set the standard for community service and academic achievement within the framework of intercollegiate athletics.

Among other award-winning community service projects, the Broncos have taken the initiative to team up with over 15 community organizations, creating unique game day sponsorships and developing the ‘Bronco Community Challenge,’ which uses SCU basketball as the venue to strengthen the sense of community in the South Bay.

As a team and individually, Santa Clara's women's basketball student-athletes have achieved local, regional and national recognition for their achievements in the classroom. SCU owned a collective team GPA of 3.1 in 2012-13 and had four players named to the West Coast Conference All-Academic Team.

She was instrumental in developing record-setting guard Alyssa Shoji '12 into one of the most accomplished guards in Santa Clara history. Shoji set the WCC single-season record for 3-point field goals made (99) in 2011-12 and established a new Broncos all-time 3-point record of 289 for a career. 

She came to the Mission Campus after three seasons as the Coordinator of Women's Basketball Operations at the University of the Pacific. While in Stockton, White's duties included coordinating the team's film exchanges, maintaining a recruiting database, purchasing equipment and assisting with game operations. Additionally, White was responsible for helping to prepare the team for practice and for workouts.

Before Pacific, White spent two seasons playing for head coach Lynne Roberts at Chico State from 2002-04. During her two years at Chico State, White established herself as one of the top scorers in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), earning first team all-conference honors as both a junior and senior and All-West Region honors in her final season. During her junior campaign as a Wildcat, Marissa set a new single season school scoring record as she averaged an impressive 18.9 points per game. Additionally, White topped the record books again as she posted 84 three-pointers for the season. White graduated in 2004 with a degree in psychology.

After leaving Chico State, White took her talent overseas for the 2005 season as she played for Hop BBK of the Eliteserien - Kvinner League in Norway. White obtained her master's degree in sport sciences at Pacific in 2009.
