REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's crew battled a tough and experienced Stanford team Tuesday afternoon at Redwood Shores, and despite dropping each event, the Broncos gained a measure of confidence.
In the varsity eight race, Santa Clara finished third behind the Stanford second and third varsity teams. The Broncos finished the event in a time of 7:44.5, with the Stanford teams finishing in times of 7:12.4 and 7:27.6, respectively.
The Bronco novice eight competed in the closest race of the day, finishing second to Stanford's novice eight by only six seconds. Santa Clara finished the novice race in a time of 7:41.5.
The varsity four race again had the Broncos finishing third, this time behind the Stanford A and Stanford B varsity fours. Santa Clara finished the race in a time of 8:42.5, while the Cardinal A team finished the race in a time of 7:28.3.
Santa Clara women's crew will return to action April 6 and 7 in the San Diego Crew Classic held in San Diego, Calif.
